The Berlin Airlift contain supplies such as goods, food, and coal to Berlin because the Soviet Union blockaded Berlin cutting of all road and rail access from the West. This was a major deal because this would have had impact on trade with the United States. -

This was to create a formal alliance between North America and Europe. The central purpose is to protect each other in an event if the Soviet Union takes over their nation. -

The Soviet Union launched their first satellite, Sputnik, into space. This was a major event because this was the world's first satellite launched into space. This came to a surprise to the United States because they thought they would be the first to accomplish the scientific advancement. -
Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba
Cuba's nationalist, Fidel Castro overthrown General Fulgencio Batista from power creating fear among the populous in Cuba. The United States being about 100 miles away was getting worried about the order in Cuba, so the U.S. trained Cuban refugees to invade Cuba, which is called the Bay of Pigs, but the plan did not go well. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin was symbol of the Cold War, which was called the "Iron Curtain". The was to create a division among the East and West Germans. The East build the wall within two days cutting off access from the West. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The U.S saw that the Cuban government was assembling a missile with the equipment provided by the Soviet. The U.S. feared there would be a nuclear war, so the US had to strategically think of a way to have Cuba remove their missiles. The Soviet made condition to the US if they were to remove the missiles from Cuba, which was to promise not to invade Cuba and not remove missiles that was placed in Pakistan. The US agreed to the terms, but privately removed the missiles from Pakistan. -
China's first atomic bomb
The People's Republic of China heavily relied on the Soviet Union for technological support but the USSR refused to provide such information. Therefore, China decided to rely on their own knowledge to construct their own atomic bomb. -
United States invades Grenada
The American Nationals in the Caribbean nation felt a threat from the Marxist nation, so the President Ronald Reagan ordered the Marines to invade and secure their safety. Over more than week, the Grenada's government was overthrown. -
