President Truman's Warning
Tension was growing between the Soviet Union and the United States and President Truman told his secretary of state, "Another war is in the making." -
"Iron Curtian"
Former British leader WInstin Churchill came to the U.S. and gave a speech to explain the tension in Europe, explaining that it is like an "iron curtian." -
Truman Doctrine/ Marshall Plan
Both of these were made to give finacial support from America to places in Europe. The Truman Doctrine, however, was to influence people to not have the spread of communism. While, the Marshall plan was to help political stability with Western Europe, the $13 billion dollars helped rebuild Europe after the war. -
Soviet Blockade of Berlin
The temporary division of Germany lead to problems because the Soviet Union didn't like the idea of having West Berlin turned into a democratic so they they put up a blockade. -
Blockade Called Off
After almost a year of having a blockade around West Berlin, the Soviet Union finally called it off. -
Beginning of Nuclear Arms Race
The Soviet Union tested their first atomic bomb and America got scared because they were no longer ahead of the Soviet's technology wise. -

After WWII, America and the Soviet Union divided Korea into north and south territory. The Soviet's got the north and instantly set up communism while America supported anyhting non-coummunist. During the Cold War this caused tension between the two making them fight eachother in Korea. -

Sputnik Launch
Sputnik was the Soviet Unions, and the worlds, first artificial satellite that was launched into space late that October night. This new developemet was another thing that made America worried, it encouraged them to start their own program called NASA. -
SALT 1
Strategic Arms Limitations Talk, aka Salt 1, was a discussion was between the superpowers limiting the number of nuclear weapons they could have, not making anything that could shoot the weapons down, and each side has to stay a certian amount vunerable. -
Salt II
This talk resoulted in an arms control treaty. -
Slight Improvement Between U.S. and Soviet's
Intermediat-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty was created by President Regaan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to elimate certian types of missiles. After this treaty, it caused relations to improve between the two nations. -
German Reunified
With the revolts taking place in Europe, East Germany opened their border which caused the unification of the two Germany's. -
Fall of Soviet Union
The revolts of the 15 different sections that made the Soviet Union caused it to crumble, this also marked the end of the Ccold war.
