    Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    On May 1960 the Soviet Union Promised to protect Cuba with their arms. Two year later Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev installed nuclear missiles in Cuba.     Berlin Wall

    Berlin Wall
    The Berlin wall separated East and West Germany. The east was run by the communists, while the west was capitalist. Between the years 1949 and 1961 2.5 million East Germans escaped to West Germany. The wall was 15 feet high with barbed wire along the top.     Founded on May 14, 1955, the Warsaw pact was a mutual-defense organization created by the Soviet Union. The following countries were included under the Warsaw pact: Soviet Union, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.     The Vietnam War lasted from 1954-1975, making it the second longest war the U.S has been involved in. North and South Vietnam went to war with each other over political differences. Communists in the North fought against the South which was backed by the U.S. By the end of the conflict the U.S.A. was unsuccessful so they withdrew.     This war was fought between North and South Korea. The Korean war started when the north invaded the south.     The Truman Doctrine was a deceleration made by the United States Presidents, Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947. This doctrine would provided economic and military assistance to the countries of Greece and Turkey.     On May 8th,1945, Germany was dived by the following countries: America, Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. West Germany was controlled by NATO while the east was ruled by the USSR. There was tension between both sides due to different economic and political beliefs. This tension would eventually lead to the Cold War.
