China became communist. Communist had won the civil war in china against the nationalist driving them out of china completely. Chiang Kai-Shek (leader of the nationalist) fled the country with some trusted advisors and treasure. China was now a communist republic. -

Operation Rolling Thunder began in the spring of 1965. And in March, two marines arrived at Denang airbase authorized to attack the enemy. But Johnson didn’t tell the American people that he had sent armed forces. -
Gulf of Tonkin
North Korean patrol boats attacked American warships in the Gulf of Tonkin. In response Johnson asked congress to authorize the president to take “All necessary measures to repel armed attack” in Vietnam. Which congress did in the Gulf of Tonkin resolution. -
New York Times
The New York Times published the pentagon papers, documents which show that the government mad been misleading the American public about the war for years. Congress responded by passing the war powers act, which was supposed to limit the president’s ability to sent troops overseas without their approval and prevent another gulf of Tonkin. -
Paris Peace Agreement
The Paris Peace Agreement allowed American troops to withdraw from Vietnam. However the war between North Vietnam and South Vietnam continued until 1975 when the north conquered the south and created a communist Vietnam.
