Mao Zedong, on October 1, founded the People's Republic of China. This added to the number of Communist supporters, which means that Communism is growing rapidly and no one knows when it will end. -

On June 25, North Korea invades South Korea which sparks the Korean War. The US, the Soviets, and the Chinese are all involved in a war that seems like no one could win. -
38th Parallel
On October 2, The United Nations cross the 38th parallel line and enter North Korea. This causes more conflict between the United Nations and North Korea. -
United Nations Capture Pyongyang
The United Nations successfully claim the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang. This is huge for the United Nations and anti-communist countries in the war. -
Chinese Capture Seoul
On January 4, The Chinese forces successfully capture the South Korean capital, Seoul. However, the UN forces recapture the capital 2 months later. -
Rosenberg Conviction
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were both convicted for suspicion of espionage. They were spreading atomic bomb secrets to the Soviets during and after World War 2. -
The ANZUS Treaty
Australia, New Zealand, and the United States came up with the ANZUS Treaty. This created an alliance between the three countries in helping each other with their military during the war. -
End of The Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan comes to an end as European countries are showing better numbers economically since the start of the plan. -
UK Becomes Third Nuclear Power
The UK tested their nuclear bomb during Operation Hurricane. This helped them become the third country that has nuclear power which is huge for the anti-communism side. -

On January 20, Dwight D. Eisenhower becomes president of the United States. Richard Nixon is his vice president, and soon will be president in the future. -

Joseph Stalin dies from Cerebral Hemorrhage, which greatly affects the Soviet Union. Georgy Malenkov is his successor, but only for 6 months. -

Translated to English, the Committee for State Secretary, replaces the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. It was the main security agency for the Soviet Union during the war and was used effectively. -
SEATO is Created
The South East Asian Treaty Organization is created, made up of 8 countries. SEATO works just like NATO as their focus is to stop Communist expansion, but they have added in the Philippines and Indochina into their alliance. -
West Germany Joins NATO
10 years after WW2 came to an end, West Germany joins NATO. This is huge because they were once the enemies of almost every single country involved in WW2. -
The Warsaw Pact
The Warsaw Pact was created in Eastern Europe. It's known as the opposite of NATO as its made up of the Soviet Union, East Germany, Poland, and other pro communist countries. -

The Geneva Summit occurred on July 18, 1955. In this historic meeting, Eisenhower, Edgar Faure, Anthony Eden, Bulganin, as well as Khrushchev all met under the same roof. -
