Yalta Conference
Leaders of U.S, Britain, Soviet Union met at the soviet Black Sea Resort of Yalta. At this conference, they decided to split up Germany into 4 zones. These zones would be ruled by an allied nation. (Beck 965)

Franklin D. Roosevelt
FDR, died in 1945, shortly after the Yelta conference. He was our beloved 32nd president who helped us out of the great depression, and won a record 4 elections. (History.com)

Truman Doctrine
When Greece and Turkey were in danger of falling into communism, The U.S. decided to help them defend against it, by giving the countries $400 million dollars. This effort works, and Greece and Turkey successfully win the battle of communism.

Marshall Plan
Plan created by the U.S. Secretary of State at the time, George Marshall. It was money, the united States was willing to give Europe to help the rebuild. Europe denied the money, because they didn't want to be in dept to the U.S.

N.A.T.O. stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This is an alliance, of countries that agreed to help each other if one was attacked. This Is Political because it is a treaty between countries. (Note Guide) -

First big conflict, Started when the UN lead by U.S. forces aided North Korea. China and the USSR gave aid, military support, and Weapons to support the north. The war ends in a stalemate, after going back and fourth over the 38th parallel.

Warsaw Pact
This included the "satellites" This was another treaty between Albania, Bulgaria, Czech., E. Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. This treaty is more about forced loyalty to each other. there is more threat in leaving, then if war would arise, and support was needed. (Note Guide)

Bay of The Pigs Invasion
The Cuban government was overthrown in 1959 with the support of the soviet union. The U.S. wanted to overthrow the communist regime, so they invaded 1961. After this all diplomatic relations were cut off. (Note Guide)
I see this as Intellectual, because of the planing that went into the takeover and the invasion. -

Russia beat us to space, but we were the first one with a man to the moon. (Note Guide). This relates to religious, because, it has to do with promise, and hope and dedication, even though it is not a specific religion. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Soviet Union sent nuclear missiles into Cuba. The U.S. responded by creating a blockade around Cuba. John F. Kennedy demanded, that the Missiles be removed. Eventually the Soviet Union, went to Cuba and took the missiles back.
I think this is social, because there would be tension between Russian Americans and Americans. (Note Guide). -

The 35th president of the United States. He was shot while riding with his wife.

After dominating basket ball for many years, the U.S. lost an Olympic basketball game 1972, By one point.

Chernobyl disaster
A Nuclear plant that blew up in Russia. A Nuclear plant that blew up in Russia. The U.S. people had no idea how many people died due to lack of communication. All the U.S. knew is the number of injuries must have been large, because they knew the blast radius. They also knew of the radiation poisoning that must have been going on.

Berlin Wall
A wall was built between East and West Berlin. Its purpose was to keep Fascism from entering Germany. It fell in 1989 and remains an endearing part of WWI. This could be seen as Social, it was a social boundary. They didn't want the fascism to spread, so they created a wall, so that they would not communicate. (History.com) -
Crimean
Russian leadership comes back into places like Crimean peninsula. This was annexed by the Russian Federation. I think that this relates to physiological, trying to bring their ideals back into these areas (Note Guide)
