They tried repairing it, but failed by spending money on uneeded goods instead of looking for opinions from their citezens on what they should buy. A man from Cuba named Fidel Castro rebelled against communism given out by Cuba`s ruler. Then current U.S president John F. Kennedy planned to invade Cuba, Castro`s forces captured the invaders. Kennedy demanded Cuba not to set off missels which they didnt. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin wall was built to keep East berliners from crossing over into the west and vice-versa. The reason this was a problem was because if a citizen from the east wasn`t satisfied with their pay, they would jump the fence over to the west and explore their options there, and vice-versa. This made Berlin citizens furious. -

In 1979, the Soviet Union got involved in an extended war in Afghanistan. A Soviet-supported Afghan government tried to modernize the nation. The policies were social reforms and land redistribution that would reduce the power of reginal landlords.
