During the Eastern Bloc’s existence, its member countries traded with the Soviet Union and aligned their military and foreign policies with those of the Soviet Union.

They installed the military dictatorship of Carlos Armas, which was the first in a series of U.S. authoritarian rulers in Guatemala. This overthrow went from June 18th to June 27th of 1954.

The Cubans were considered winners in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

    The Prague Spring was a period of political liberalization and mass protest in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The Prague Spring reforms were an attempt by the first secretary Dubcek to grant additional rights to the citizens of Czechoslovakia in an act of partial decentralization of the economy. After the invasion, Czechoslovakia entered a period known as normalization, in which new leaders attempted to restore political and economic values.

In the end, the Soviets withdrew due to backlash from the people of the soviet union and the Afghans won.

    The Tiananmen Square protests, known as the June Fourth Incident, were student-led demonstrations held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China, lasting from 15 April to 4 June 1989. After weeks of attempts between the demonstrators and the government to find a peaceful resolution, the Chinese government declared martial law on the night of 3 June. The government deployed troops on the square and that's where the Tiananmen Square Massacre gets its name.

    The Berlin Wall fell on November 9th, 1989 during a peaceful revolution. With the wall falling people from East Germany could transit over to West Germany without any worry of soldiers shooting them. This marked the falling of the "iron curtain" that descended on Europe.

    The September 11 attacks were four coordinated Islamist suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States. They had 4 planes, 2 going to the Twin Towers in NYC, 1 going into the Pentagon, and 1 that was assumed to be heading toward the white house but was brought down by the passengers on the plane. This would cause America to declare war on the terrorists starting the War on Terror.
