    Chinese Communist Revolution
    This is the chinese communist’s drive to power, the communists were fighting the nationalists who were receiving aid from the United States while the communists were receiving aid from the Soviet Union. The communists won leading to the name change of China into the “People’s Republic of China”. The connection to the cold war is that communism is what started the Cold War and communism is the key factor of the Chinese Communist Revolution.The Revolution ends February 12, 1912.

    The Cold War was waged by the USSR to undermine the west and establish communism worldwide. Cold War tension developed between the U.S. and Soviet Union after WWII. The Soviets attempted to expand its influence into Western Europe, and the U.S. "containment" policy was to prevent the spread of westward Soviet influence and expansion.

    was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War 1. Following the fall of Germany in 1945, the United States, England, and the Soviet Union had to decide how best to handle Germany. The Cold War developed in disagreements between the United States and the Soviet Union, because of the fundamental differences between the two countries and the competition of the influence on other nations as the only superpowers after WWII.

    8 day conference ended on February 11th,1945.The leaders Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt met to decide how they wanted to separate Germany among the three allies (Russia, England and USA).
    Around this time marks the beginning of the Cold War. The division of Germany created tension between the superpowers.

    The UN's mission to preserve world peace was complicated in its early decades by the Cold War between the US and Soviet Union and their respective allies and essentially failed to come to resolutions because the United States and the Soviet Union were both superpowers and would veto each other's ideas. No resolutions to the spread of communism could come about in terms of what the United Nations could do to help.

The defendants, who included Nazi Party officials and high-ranking military officers along with German industrialists, lawyers and doctors, were indicted on such charges as crimes against peace and crimes against humanity.

    The Baruch Plan was a proposal by the US government written by Bernard Baruch. The United States presents the Baruch Plan for the international control of atomic weapons to the United Nations. This connects to the Cold War because the United States, one of the superpowers during the Cold War, was trying to prevent the use of nuclear weapons.

    was created by the U.S. Secretary of State, George C Marshall. The Plan offered American aid to European countries under communist control.The goal was to stop communism from spreading even further. The plan was successful.

    The treaty connects to the Cold War because it was created to stop The Soviets from dominating.

    Joseph McCarthy gave this speech warning of communism in America. He gave specific names of people working within the State Department and listed their crimes. Those individuals lost their jobs, even though McCarthy was never able to give any further evidence to prove their guilt. THe connection to the Cold War is that the whole speech was about communism which was the key factor that started the Cold War because the United States didn’t want communism to spread.

    Korean war ended July 27th,1953 a conflict between North Korea and South Korea. The United Nations helped aid South Korea while China helped aid North Korea.

    The Warsaw Pact was a collective defense treaty among the Soviet Union and seven other Soviet satellite states in Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War.

The event was apart of the Space Race, which was a competition between the U.S. and the Soviets.This connects to the cold war because in the the cold war it was a compettion of spreading their type of government.

Starting at midnight that day, he said, citizens of the GDR were free to cross the country's borders.

    the most tense part of the war because it was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war. The Soviet Union planted missiles in Cuba that were aimed at the U.S. President Kennedy ordered their removal or else he would invade Cuba. The U.S. also took down their missiles in turkey. The weapons were dismantled.

    The Berlin Wall underwent many changes. The first wall that was built overnight in august of 1961 was just heavy duty barbed wire guarded 24/7. It wasn't until 1965 that the concrete wall was erected. Many people from East Germany attempted to escape by jumping over the wall. Unfortunaly many died in the process of becoming free. This area of the wall was known as the "Death Strip".

    Fidel Castro succeeded in overthrowing the government of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. Mindful of Batista's cruel record of repression, the U.S. government and the American public in general welcomed Castro's rise to power as a victory for democracy. American sympathy rapidly evaporated, however, when Premier Castro began to act and sound like a communist dictator, and failed to do what he promised he would, which lead to yet again another nation influenced by communism

    This was the first US spacecraft set to go to the moon. The astronauts were Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. The connection to the Cold War is that it shares the same idea of competition as the cold war. The Soviet Union and the United States were competing to see who could get to the moon first, just like how they were competing to spread their government type.

Each side had a limit of 2400 weapons systems.This connects to the Cold War because SALT is a corresponding international treaty between the Cold War superpower,U.S. and Soviet Union,on the issue of armament control.

    joined China’s communist revolution, led by Mao Zedong, as a political and military organizer. War broke out against Japan in 1937 and Deng served as educational leader of the Chinese Revolutionary Army, helping it grow into a large military machine during the Communist Revolution, 1946-49. He connects to the Cold War because he was the communist leader of China during the Cold War.

During the Cold War the Soviet Union and the countries of eastern Europe formed one of the most cohesive blocs.
