    Imaginary boundary in between countries that separated the two sides during the cold war. It separated the countries in the Warsaw Pact versus the NATO and other countries that didn't want to fall to communism.

    The U.S was supplying economical, political, and military aid to these countries affected by the war but also to try and prevent the spread of communism throughout these struggling countries. They believed that if one country fell, the rest would keep falling to the communist regime which created this split and race for nuclear weapons.

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization- a defensive military alliance formed by 10 Western European nations, the United States, and Canada. Was formed to prevent further war and instability across the world.

    A military alliance formed in 1955 by the Soviet Union and seven Eastern European countries. The Soviets used the spread of communism into almost forcing these countries to join this pact.

    Race between the U.S and Soviets to be the first in space and on the moon where the U.S won. However, the Soviets spend billions of dollars on this technology which started the downfall of their union.

    President during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was the first to escalate the war in Vietnam.

    These two nations were in a race for the best weapons but wouldn't use them unless forced upon it which almost happens during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Soviet Union supplied Cuban with these missiles in range of the U.S until they worked out a deal to avoid M.A.D.

    To add further conflict, these two nations were racing to not only be the first in space but to the moon. The U.S succeeded in being the first to the moon however allowing the use of satellites and other equipment.
