    This was formed to protect Soviet military interests. The Eastern and Western parts of the Soviet Union formed a "buffer zone." The two sides were having political conflicts, so this was needed.

    This was signed by president Harriet Truman. It was the American goal to rebuild British economy after war. The Soviet Union refused this plan, which was a factor in the start of the Cold War.

    This was one of the first major events of the cold war. It happened in West Berlin and it was a blockade to the US and UK to respond to Berlin's actions without breaking out into a full war. This left West Berlin under control of the Western Allies.

    This was fought between North and South Korea for three years. The US entered the war due to worrying about Soviet Union and China's communism issues. The United Nations assisted the republics of Korea. The war ended with a stalemate at the borders of North and South Korea.

    The strength of the communist party brought China up from poverty, abuse, and early death. This was a revolution of China's achievements from the victory of the civil war, as well as the celebration of China's first state. At the end, a republican government was established to provide better opportunities for the country.

    This was led by Fidel Castro and it was his attempt to overthrow the government. Many people of Cuba were unhappy with the government and the inequality in Cuba. This was very necessary in order to change how the nation would govern itself and how the citizens of Cuba would be happy again. This did eventually help to establish a new Cuban government.

    This was between America and Vietnam due to the fear of communism spreading. President Lyndon Johnson took the initiative to this fear. The US bombed Vietnam, and it was one of the longest and costliest battles. North Vietnam came away with the victory, and South Vietnam became a socialist republic.

    This was an attempt of overthrowing the Hungarian people Reveloution. In this battle, thousands of Hungarians were killed by the red army troops. Many hungarians fled the country and were very unhappy with the decisions.

    Many exile cubans launched an invasion at the Bay of Pigs, which was the south coast of Cuba. They planned to have air strikes. Some opposed the ideas of Fidel Castro and kept invading for change, however it failed for them. The invasion strengthened the Castro administation, which eventually resulted in the uprising of socialism.

    The Berlin Wall was a symbol of the separation in Berlin. The German Democratic Republic built it to prevent the people from escaping East Berlin and going into West Berlin. The two sides had very different opinions and beliefs and needed to be physically separated.

    The Soviet Union began secretly preparing missiles for Cuba long before they actually attacked. President Kennedy blockaded Cuba and attacked with the missiles. Krushev and Kennedy agreed to end it at the end, but the soviets had to remove their missiles in order for them not to invade again.

    This was a time in which there was a huge amount of protest agasint political and social refroms agaisnt the Socialist republic. The citizens of Czechoslovakia pushed for additional rights. Although there was not a huge amount of change, normalization for the citizens was better.

    The Soviet Union went to war in Afghanistan due to the fear of the muslim population spreading in their country. The soviets wanted control and to put down Afghanistan. Many afghan citizens were killed and the country was left with many fleeing.

    The movement to stop the spread of communism and weaken the forces of it in Poland was very common during the war. Prime Minister Mazowieki was defeated due to the protests and hatred of the goverment in Poland. Walesa was the new Prime minister, and the movements made an impact of anti-communism.

    The Breshnev Doctrine of annoucning reuniting really set peope to destroy the wall.This happened during the Peaceful reveloution, as conflicts between the two sides of Berlin were coming to agreements. People stood on top of the wall and began to destruct it, showing the way they would agree again. Germany was finally reunited as one again.

    In China, protestors fought for better political and economic reforms. They were very peaceful, but to Chinese authorities, it was very overwhelming. The military was brought in and unarmed protestors were killed. The violence was very un needed due to the peacefulness of the citizens.

    Protests against repression and the economics of the Soviet Union got out of hand. Many people were worried about the goverment failing. Many people fled the area and the Soviet turned into individual states with their own independace. It was no longer one big country, the soviet had fallen apart.

    Terrorists from al- Queda sent planes to attack the world trade center. The North and South tours were striked by 4 planes, causing a huge amount of casualties. This was one of the deadliest terrorist attacks to ever occur and left America in heartbreak. This attack pushed for the american attacks on Afghanistan.
