Soviets Create and Test Nuclear Bomb
This Bomb was devloped at a remote test site at Semipalatinsk in Kazakhstan it wa salso called The "First Lighting". They also used animals in cages near the bomb so that they can test the nuclear radiation on them. Klaus Fuchs a German-born physicist gave imformation the soviets on the atomic bomb after he helped the united states build their first bomb. Soviets and the United States were about to go into a thermonuclear with the superbomb. -
The Korean War
The korean fight was between the north and the south and the united states fought for the south and china fought for the north. They were trying to stop the spread of communism. The united states and the south didnt want the spead of communism and they stopped it from spreading. Then two governments were created for eachside of them. -
Bay of Pigs
The bay of pigs was a failure by the military invsion of cuba and was undertaken by the C.I.A sponsored paramilitary group. the cubans were outnumbered and hey were forced by castros troops to surrender in less than 24 hours. Castro and kennedy were fighting for power over cuba and castro won that battle. 100 attackers were killed and over 1,100 were captured. -
The Berlin Wall Goes up
The wall was put up to seperate West berlin from East Berlin and East Germany. The wall was taken down June 13, 1990.West Berlin was democratic and east berlin was communist and they were two seperate sides and they didnt want people to decide if they were democratic or communist. The united states were allies with berlin and the soviet union was trying to take it over. But they had to split because tey ould not come to a dicision. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
This event was also called the october crisis. This event was between the soviet union and the united states over Soviet ballistic missiles deployed in Cuba. There was an agreement between the soviet union and united states so that they would never invade cuba without direct contact. there was the creation of the nuclear hotline between the U.S. and Soviet Union. -
The Six Day War
The war was between Arab and the Israli. Isreal occupied the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and the Golan Heights of Syria. The Arab was in charge of the east side of Jerusalem. They were fighting over teritory. -
U.S. Sends A Man To The Moon
Apollo 11 went into space july 16, 1969. In Apollo 11 Neil Armstrong was there with Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins. They were the first men ever on the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first one to walk on the moon and they made more advances by haveing people stationed on it now. -
1980 Olympic Hocky Game
The United States Olympic hocky team played the Soviet Union in Lake Placid New York. It is now called the Mircle on ice because it is one of the biggest events in sports history. The United States won agianst the Soviet Union in the final game. This was a symbol of leadership for the United States because they beat the Soviet union.
