The Yalta Conference was the WW2 meeting between the heads of governments in the United States, Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom (Franklin Roosevelt, Stalin, Winston Churchill). The meeting discussed the re-establishment of the nations of war-torn Europe. The conference helped lead to the cold war by giving the Soviet Union control over Eastern Europe. It affected the liberalism of the people in the satellite states that the soviet union took over because they became communist. -

It was an American foreign policy whose purpose was to counter Soviet expansion during the Cold War. President Truman pledged to contain threats in Greece and Turkey. It affected the cold war because it implied American support for other nations allegedly threatened by Soviet communism. It affected the liberalism of countries being supported by the U.S in a good way because they were being assisted and were receiving military support while the Soviet Union was trying to expand. -
Brussels Treaty (Brussels, Belgium) (Alignment)

George C. Marshall advocated it to aid Western Europe. It was designed to boost the economies of western European countries after WW2 by giving over 12 billion dollars in assistance. It affected the cold war because the U.S became alarmed with the growth of communism and set up the Marshall Plan in order to control it. Its purpose was to defend each other from the possibility of the Soviet Union taking control of their nation. It increased tensions in the Cold War. Military assistance was offered, allowing them to feel safe and secure. -

It can also affect the liberalism of people in the United States/Europe because now they Soviet Union could back out of deals. -

It was a treaty signed between the Soviet Union and Eastern satellite states in Europe. The Warsaw Pact was part of a Soviet plan to control the militaries of its satellite countries in Eastern Europe more forcefully in reaction to western Germany joining NATO. It effected the cold war because it united Communists against the threat of capitalism in Europe. It affected the liberalism of people in the satellite countries because their militaries were now being forcefully controlled. -

The Berlin Wall was built to divide communist East Germany from democratic West Germany and to keep East Germans from escaping to West Germany. It affected the cold war because the tension between the communist territory and the democratic territories mounted, and the Berlin Wall was built to separate them. It affected the liberalism of the people of Berlin because their city was now split, with no choice between going West or East. The east now suffered from communism with no escape. -

It was a independent labor union in a Soviet-bloc country. It gave rise to a broad, non-violent, anti-communist social movement. This was soon followed by the dismantling of the communist governmental system and by Poland's transformation into a modern democratic state. This affected the cold war because the Soviet Union had just lost another state, reducing their power. It affected the liberalism of the people in Poland because now they can make democratic decisions for themselves. -

Poland and Hungary's revolution caused a chain reaction into Germany.After several weeks of civil unrest, the East German government announced that all German Democratic Republic citizens could visit West Germany and West Berlin.It affected the cold war because it was considered German reunification and dismantled the two different sides of government. It affected the liberalism of people in Germany because now they can travel back and forth without any restrictions, allowing freedom. -

It affected the liberalism of people in Czechoslovakia because now they have a federal non- communist government and can make their own decisions. -

The shredding of the Berlin wall, dismantling of the Iron curtain, and Mikhail Gorbachev's power marked the end of the cold war. The ending of the cold war changed peoples lives cause it was something they were used too. Governments could now focus on more important things and not have to worry about a war. It affected liberalism of all the people involved in the cold war because now they are free and have a say in what they do.
