    Berlin Blockade
    In the Berlin Blockade the Soviet Union, the US, UK, and France were involved. The allied power wanted to unite their different occupation zones of Germany into one. The soviet did not like this and their representative withdrew from the allied control council. The Soviet forces in eastern Germany began a blockade of all rail, road, and water communications. The US and Britain began to supply Berlin with their resources and supplies via air. This is ranked third.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The participants in this war were China, North Korea, South Korea, the US, and the United Nations. North Korea invaded the Soviet Union and the Korean boundary. This was the first military action of the Cold War. The Americans entered the war on South Korea's behalf. After back and forth fighting between the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled. The war, also known as the "forgotten war", eventually came to an end. I believe this is ranked first.

    The US and the Soviet Union participated in the Space Race. It was a competition between the US and the Soviet Union. The superpowers fought to achieve superior spaceflight capability. Each side wanted to better things such as their military power, their technology, and their economic systems. This is ranked tenth.
  • Vietnam War

    The participants were the US and Viet Cong. This was a protracted conflict that pitied the communist government of North Vietnam and its allies of South Vietnam vs. the US. They desired North Vietnam. The costs and the casualties were way too much for the US and the US combat units were withdrawn by 1973. South Vietnam eventually fell to a full-scale invasion by the North. This is ranked second.

    The participants in this crisis were Egypt, France, Israel, and the UK. This crisis was provoked by an American and British decision not to finance Egypt's construction of the Aswan High Dam. Nasser didn't like that idea and declared martial law in response to their decision. Britain and France secretly prepared military action to regain control of the canal. But in result of that, Britain and France lost most of their support This is ranked fourth.

    This was between the US and the Soviet Union. U-2 overflights and the capture of Francis Gray powers. a pilot from the American U-2 spy plane was shot down as he was flying through the Soviet airspace. This caused the collapse of the summit conference in paris between the US, USSR, and the UK and France. The US plane was claimed to be an aggressive act from the US. This is ranked ninth.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    Cuba, the US, and the Soviet Union were in this Crisis. This was direct and dangerous confrontation between the US and the Soviet Union. The two superpowers came the closest to a nuclear conflict. The Installation of a nuclear-armed soviet missile in Cuba. JFK notified the US of the USSR'S missile and he prepared to neutralize the threat if he needed to. This is ranked sixth.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    The participants in this war were Egypt, Israel, and Syria. This was initiated by Egypt and Syria. It eventually drew both the US and Soviet Union into indirect confrontation. The intensity of Egypt and Syria's offenses began to exhaust Israel's stock of munitions. Israel asked the US for help and the US aided Israel. Israel then signed a formal ceasefire agreement with Egypt and Syria. This is ranked seventh.

    The Soviet Union was the only participant in this war. It was the invasion of Afghanistan by troops from the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union intervened in support of the Afghan communist government in its conflict with the anti-communist Muslim guerrillas. Uprisings within the government prompted the Soviets to invade the country and topple down the short-lived presidency of Amin. It quickly settled down into a stalemate. This is ranked fifth.

    The Soviet Union, US, and Korea were all participants in this war. This was the flight of a passenger jet that was shot down by Soviet air-to-air missiles. The Soviets claimed that the plane was an intelligence gathering mission for the US. It occurred during high tensions during the Cold War and it further degraded US and Soviet relations. This attack killed all people on board. This is ranked eighth.

    The participants in this were NATO and the Soviets. NATO conducted Able Archer 83. It was a war game that realistically modeled a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. This war during the Cold War tensions. It raised the risk of an accidental nuclear war. It was also right after the Korean Air Lines Flight 007. This is ranked eleventh.
