JFK was elected as president of the United States by beating republican canidait Richard Nixon, even though the battle was tough they pulled through and JFK became president by stating that the republicans lost Cuba and let a huge missle gap be this close to the US by stating this JFK won the election.

Castro takes over in Cuba

First Man in Space
Yuri Gararin became the first man to be in space and orbit earth for 89 mins the word went out to the whole world hitting the US in the sapce race then the US sent an astronaunt of there own and he orbited earth 3 times but during that the Soviets were already a step ahead of them when they launched another man in sapce this time he orbited earth 17 times nearly spending 25 hours in space.

Bay of Pigs Invasion
The bay of pigs invasion was a failed attempt to remove Castro from power, they CIA trained and put together a army of Cuban rufges that they used to fight Castro but were outnumbered by Castro's troops and the invasion didn't last even 24 hours.

Cuban Missile Crisis
The crisis stared when the Soviets were responding to the missiles being placed in turkey when the US found out what the Soviets were doing they were in a standoff until the US agreed to the Soviets offer by not invading Cuba they would remove the missiles placed there and Kennedy promised that he would have the missiles placed in turkey removed as well.

American Troops arrive in south Vietnam
American troops arrive in south Vietnam near Da Nang air base and were hoping that they could land without fanfare. The first battalion team to land was battalion landing team 3/9 then two hours later the battalion landing team 1/3 came to south Vietnam and more and more American troops were landing on the shore near Da Nang air base.
