The Potsdam Conference
The point of the Potsdam Conference was for the three leading Allies, The United States, Soviet Untion and the United Kingdom, to come to a settlement and agreement after the war, learning from the mistakes that were comited in the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. Because of all the disagreements, the conference failed to end some issues and did not allow the Allies to come to full peace. -
End of WWII and the Tension Between 2 Nations
As the war ended, tension existing between the Soviet and the United States rapidly increased. Both had the urge of obtaining superior military power, the United States feared communism and there were disagreements between both over the building and use of nuclear arms. -
The Korean War: First military action of the cold war
On June 25 of 1950, North korea invaded South Korea. This caused high tensions due to the fact that North Korea was supported by the Soviet Union meanwhile South Korea was supported by the United states. The first hydrogen bomb, code-named Mike, was detonated at Enewetak atoll in the Marshall Islands. The bomb was created in efforts to improve the United States defense by using it as a weapon against enemy forces. -

Beginning April 17, 1961, this invasion was a failed langing operation in the beaches of Cuba along the Bay of pigs. The Cuban-exile invasion force, also knwon as Brigade 2506, planned this against those who opposed Fidel Castros Revolution. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Leaders of the United States and the Soviet Union participated in a stand off that lasted 13 days. Beginning October 16, 1962 and lasting until October 28, 1962. This crisis causes both powers on the verge of a war, but ended with an agreement to withdraw the missiles. -

John F. Kennnedy became the first president of the United States to have a phoneline that reached direction to the Kremlin in Moscow. The whole purpose of this was to make it easier for the leaders of the United States and the Soviet Union to communicate with one another. -
