    This where the US tried to invade Cuba but failed miserably, this embarrassed the US.

    This when Reagan visited the Berlin Wall, this showed continued commitment to the people of West Berlin.

    This was the the closest to the US and the Soviets actually fighting. This includes nuclear warfare also.

    JF Kennedy was assassinated while on a visit to Dallas. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the murder, but there was suspicions that there were communist or CIA complicity.

    The meeting between Mikhail Gorbachov and George H W Bush. This is seen as the beginning of the end of the cold war.

    The Warsaw Pact which allied Communist countries no longer existed.

    Mikhail Gorbachev resigned. The Soviet Union flag was lowered from the Kremlin.

    Russia formally recognized the end of the Soviet Union.
