Yalta Conference
It was a conference between Russia(Joseph Stalin), United States( Franklin D. Roosevelt), and Great Britain(Winston Churchill). They discussed post- war Europe. This was the beggining of the Cold War. -
Winston Chruchill takes a stand against Communism
Winston Chruchill issued a speech talking about how the free world was divided against the communist empire of the Soviet Union through an iron wall, and if we need to improve relations for the future peoples sake. -

The Soviets have offically taken over Czechoslovkia, and have procliamed it a part of the communsistic empire. -
Race to Nuclear Power
After World War II, the U.S was the only nuclear power. By 1949, the Soviet Union developed nuclear bombs also. Then four years later, they both developed the hydrogen bomb, which was much more distructive. People were starting to build bomb shelters due to the fear of both sides having a full out conflict. -

Fidel Castro organized an armed rebelion against the corrupt dicatator ruling at the time. He led a gueriila armhy with support of the Soviet Union, and won. They made it a ocmmunist governmnet. -
Spy plane shot down over the Soviet Union
Soviet Union reveals that a U.S. spy plane has been shot down over Soviet Territory. This was a publicity stunt. -
Berlin wall is built
West Berlin was becoming a showcase for West German prosperity. Many unhappy communists from East Germany fled to West Germany. The Berlin Wall was created to stop the fleeing people. It was one way that was leading to the unstablility in Europe. -

The Cold War Ends when the Soviet Union breaks up.
