Soviet Union gains China as Mao Zedong declares China a Communist Republic. They split from Soviet Union even with Stalin's economic aid and technical experts to modernize China. U.S. wanted Nationalism for China but soon decided to agree with Republic of China. -

Nation is divided by 38th parallel, North is communist, South is dictatorship. America entered to stop the spread of communism adn assist South Korea. -

Berlin Wall Established
First wall made of barbed wire and bricks to divide the West and East. West Berlin is isolated in the Middle of East Germany. Western Powers control West Germany, Soviets control East. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Soviet Union is shipping nuclear weapons to Cuba. Kennedy demanded that the missisle be removed as they pose a threat to America. Ended with the removal of the missiles. -
Vietnam War Ends
Anti-War propaganda and opinion increased. After two years American troops withdraw from Vietnam. North Vietnam conquers and controls South Vietnam. -
Berlin Wall Torn Down
Reagan presents speech two years earlier challenging Gorbachev to release East Germany. Wall is torn down by citizens of Germany and is declared holiday. End of Soviet Rule in East Germany. -

Soviet Union is dissolved and Soviet rule ends in USSR.
