Clara Schumann was born on September 13, 1819 in Leipzig, Germany.
Her parents were Friedrich Wieck, a music teacher, and Marianne Tromliz Wieck, a pianist and soprano. -
FIRST PIANO RECITAL
Apart of playing the piano, Clara studied voice, violin, score reading and composition.
She started to be a musician when she was a child,she performed her first piano recital when she was more or less 8.
Throughout her life, Clara was well-known as a piano soloist, sensitive interpretations of musical works, and her ability to express the composer's intent in the music. -
SHE WENT ON TOUR FOR THE FIRT TIME
In 1830, at the age of eleven, Clara left on a concert tour to Paris with her father.
She lived in Leipzig, where she was borned, but also in a lot of places around the world (like: Paris, Viena, London…) because she traveled a lot in her tours -
SHE MET ROBERT SCHUMANN
Robert moved into the Wieck household as a piano student of her father by the end of 1830 when she was only 11 and he was 20. -
ROBERT PROPOSED TO HER
In 1837 when she was 18, Robert proposed to her and she accepted. Then Robert asked her father for Clara's hand in marriage,He opposed to the marriage, as he did not much approve of Robert, and did not give his permission -
THE MARRIAGE
In 1840, despite Friedrich's objections, Clara and Robert were married.
During their marriage, Clara was pregnant ten times and born eight children. -
ROBERT DIED
Robert attempted suicide in February 1854 and then was sent to an asylum for the last two years of his life. He died 29 July 1856. -
SHE DIED
She suffered a stroke on 26 March 1896, dying on 20 May at age 76
