    When Clara was younger she got in with the wrong crowd and spent her nights drinking and doing drugs. Clara's older sister Dodie was in the same path but only worse making it seem okay for Clara. Clara believes she resorted to this as the alcohol and drugs were a way of pushing down all the things that she couldn't face.

    Clara was inducted into the Order of Canada as member in 2007 and later in 2010 was upgraded when she was inducted as an officer due to her accomplishments as well as her work with Right to Play.

    the Sydenham Hill was renamed Clara's Climb in Dundas Ontario. This was something Clara really took to heart as she was being recognized not only from where she is from but across Canada. This hill was named after Clara as she used to cycle up the steep hill for over 7 years.

    After the 2012 London games Clara decided that she was ready to retire from what she loved but yet caused her so much pain. Clara was ready to retire due to the things she had in life " I had money in the bank, a supportive husband, and a successful career that had provided me with enough celebrity to build a future.
