She was born on 12th February 1888, in Madrid.She was a Spanish politician and feminist best known for her advocacy for women's rights and suffrage during the writing of the Spanish constitution of 1931.

In 1898, after his father's death, she had to leave her studies to help the family economy.

She became the second woman to join the ICAM (Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid, in spanish), one month after Victoria Kent.

She belonged to the liberal socialist grouping, which disappeared soon.

She was chosen as deputy after 1931 elections by the radical political party. During this period she took part in the group of people who elaborated the New Republic Constitution project. She fighted against discrimination between genders and in favor of equality between sons and daughters inside and out the marriage, divorce and suffragism. Clara achieved everything except the related with suffragism.

She went into exile, and when she was living in France she published a book called "La revolución española vista por una republicana", in which she talked about her experience living in Madrid. It was a criticism to republicans behaviour.

She moved to Laussana, where she worked in a law firm, until she lost her sight.

Campoamor died in exile in 30th April 1972, in Lausanne. Her ashes were repatriated and buried at the Polloe Cemetery in San Sebastián.
