General Ambrose Burnside took his army of 120,000 men to Fredericksburg. He was going to have his men attack, but they hesitated. The South then blocked them and when the North tried to attack again, they failed. -

The Union tok position in the city of Chacellorsville to wait for the South. Lee ordered his attack. The Union was almost cut in half but somehow managed to hold a devensive wall for three days. -
Siege of Vicksburg
When the Union trapped the Confederates and starved them until they surrendered. As food ran out people would eat horses, dogs, and rats while dodging bombshells. -
Pickett's Charge
This was when Lee told the army to charge at the center of the UNion army. Men were being showered with connons and gun fire, but they kept going.Eventually, they retreated with about 7,500 casualties. -
Battle of Gettysburg
Gettysburg was the key battle that ended the civil war. The South pushed the North into Gettysbug. They landed on a high hill. Here Lee thought the Union was too powerful to overrun, so he went east and had his men camp out. Lee kept attacking and kept losing. The UNion eventually won. -

An army of free African Americans that really proved how skilled they were. They attacked Fort Wagner in South Carolina and are now known as heros. -

A speech that Lincoln gave to his Union army for their bravery. He also complimented them on their commitment to winning the Civil War. -
Lee surrenders to Grant
Both armies met at the Appomatlox Courthouse so that Lee could sign the surrender papers. Grant and Lee shook hands and Gran was nice and let all the Confederates keep their horses and he even let Lee keep his sword.
