    President Lincon sends a ship to resupply the federal fort. Believing the ship had troops and weapons the confederacy fired on the fort. Due to the attack on the fort. Lincoln call up 75,000 and some of the border states such as Virginia secede.
  • First Bull Run

    First Bull Run
    The battle of First Bull Run began on July 21st 1864. The Union had General McDowell who was in charge of 35,000 soldiers to more than 20,000 Confederate troops led by General P.G.T. The union started shelling the rebels from across Bull Run, by 4pm both sides had evened out in the number of men on the battelfield. The Confederates won the war on July 22nd, the Union lost 3,000 men to the Confederates 1,750.
  • Hampton Roads

    Hampton Roads
    On March 9th, 1862 was the begining of history's first duel between ironclad warships, this was known as the Battle of Hampton Roads. The Confederates salvaged a ship that the north built, named Virginia, it was commanded by Commodore Franklin Buchanan. The Union had the Monitor and it was under the command of Lt. John Worden. On March 9th at about 12:30 PM the Virginia headed back to its port with a victory on its back.

    Shiloh was also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, it was the second great engagement of the Civil War. Confederate generals launched a supprise attack on Ulysses S. Grant's forces in southwestern Tennessee. The Confederates had short victory but were unable to hold their positions and got driven back giving the Union a victory. The battle lasted one day and there was a total of 23,000 deaths in just that day.

    The Battle of Antietam began on Sep. 17, 1862, Lee and McCellan faced off near Antietam creek in Sharpsburgh, Maryland. This was the first battle of the Civil War that was fought on northern soil. This battle was known to being America's bloodiest day, due to Confederate audacity and Union command failure. Lee withdrew across the river, the Confederates had 10,318 deaths with only 38k engaged to the Union's 12,402 dead with 75k, giving the Union another victory.
  • Fredricksburgh

    On November 7th President Lincoln mad the decision after reaching the peak of his patience to remove McClellan from command and replaced him with Burnside. On December 13th Burnside ordered his left wing to attack Lee's right while the rest of his army attmpted to assult Longstreet's First Corps at Marye's Heights. The battle was a crushing defeat for the Union they lost around 13,000 to the Confederates 5,000. Burnside took full responsibility for the loss but many blamed Lincoln for attacking.
  • Chancellorsville

    Jackson hit Hookers weak right cutting his line in half. Jackson was mortally wounded and died. Hooker left losing 17,000 to Lee's 13,000 casulties. It was Lee's greatist defence victory.
  • Gettysburgh

    Heavy fighting on the second day at little round top,devils den, and the peach orchard. After the first 2 days of fighting there was a total of 35,000 dead. Pickets charge happened on the third day. Troop charged 3/4 of a mile to attack the union line. bombarding them with 150 confederate cannon fire. the union slaughtered them over two thirds of the confederates died.
  • Vicksburgh

    Grant couldnt get into the city. So he went around on the Mississippi River. So he came around the rear of Vicksburgh and failed with assultes for two day. With low ammo and starvation setting in General Pemberton.
  • Chickamaga

    Confederate troops on the first day attacked the union left. The Union held but with extreme losses on both sides. Union reenforcements arrived so Bragg split his army into two wings. The confederates broke through the union line. Union reinforccements won the the battle.
  • Wilderness

    After a day of fighting Grant got more troops to attack Lees right wing.With a union charge line over a mile long they were able to push backs the confederates nearly a mile. With a hard push the confederates were able to break though on the union right. But Grant restabled his ranks. Lees was able to win this fight. Union loses totaling at 17,000 and Confederate loses at only 10,000.
  • Spotsylvania

    This was one of the most bloodist battle of the war both sideS lossing a total of 29,000 troops. Grants surpise attack on May 18 but failed. Grant repelled several attacks and then realized that they could not take any ground so he disengaged his army.
  • Sherman's March

    After captureing Alanta ,which was a huge union victory, sherman marched to Savannah. But when he got there everyone lefts so he gave 25,000 bales of cotton to Lincoln as a christmas gift.
  • Petersburgh

    Grant's attacks won him the city and leaving Lee with 50,000 troop compared to Grants 120,000. Grant later crushed Pickett and Lee at Five Forks battle.
  • Lincoln's Assassination

    Booth got away. The doctor took Lincoln across the street. He said the Lincoln would die sometime in the night. The word of the assassination swept across the nation and people had their flags at half-mast.
