March 9th, 1862, a battle between monitor, and Merrimack. It was history’s first dual between ironclad warships. Merrimack had a conventional steam frigate. This ship has been salvaged by the confederates. The Union ironclad monitor is under the command of John Worden. On March 9th soon after 8:00 AM the Virginia open fired on Minnesota. They passed back and forth on opposite sides. Both crews had lacked in training. The Virginia Success on March 8th. -
