Summary: A battle between Robert Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and George McClellan's Army of the Potomac
Significance: Added yet another win to the Union and gave Abe Lincoln the opportunity to announce his next proclamation -

Summary: Lincoln is so desperate for more people to join the army so they can win the war.
Significance: When all the black men join the war it changes the tide of the war because of the amount of them that joined. -
Battles of Gettysburg and Vicksburg
Summary: The battle of Gettysburg ended the Confederate's invasion of the North. The battle of Vicksburg though was considered even more important because the Confederate's lost, giving way for the North to invade the Mississippi River.
Significance: These battles were considered another turning point in the war because the division of the war changed drastically. -

Significance: Remembered as one of the most important speeches in American history, he talked about equality, sacrifice, and preservation of the Union -

Summary: The purpose of the battle beforehand was to get the Union army to surrender, which they did. This was then a win for the Confederate army.
Significance: This was one of the most controversial events in the history of the Civil War. This is because even though most the Union army there surrendered, they were killed anyway when they should've become prisoners of war. -
Sherman's March to the Sea
Summary: A military campaign in Georgia to scare the population into abandoning the confederate cause.
Significance: They scared the southerners but made them start thinking abut who should protect them. They destroyed food sources, buildings and more. -
General Lee surrenders at Appomattox Courthouse
Summary: Generals Grant and Lee meet at a house in Virginia to negotiate terms of surrender and agreement to end the war.
Significance: After 4 years of war the Confederates surrendered and the war was over.
