South Carolina Secedes
South Carolina is the first state to secede from the union. Only two months after Mississippi, Florida, and others follow by seceding. -
Major Anderson moves his troops
Major Anderson moves his troops to Fort Sumter and declares the fort safe and protected. -
Lincolns Inauguration
In Lincolns inauguration speech he explains he wanted to resolve national crisis and stop the issue of slavery in states willing to be rid of it. -

President Lincoln appoints General Grant to command all armies in the United States, -

A costly mistake made by Grant resulted in 7,000 Union casualties in twenty minutes at Cold Harbor Virginia. -
