    Bleeding Kansas was an event when people used popular sovereignty to decide if Kansas would be a free or slave state. The result was a lot of violence hence the name Bleeding Kansas
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott Decision
    This Decision made the Missouri comprise unconstitutional. This decision also confirmed that slaves were someone's property and not a citizen even though they could be in a free state.

    This debate consist of Lincoln and Douglas. they argued about slavery; Douglass believed in leaving the vote on slavery to the people however Lincoln thought that slavery should not be spread into new territories and said we cant keep fighting about slavery and expect the Nation to still be together

    This raid was led by John brown because he wanted to start a slave revolt. This however, was a failure but the north thought he was a martyr

    This date marks South Carolina leaving the U.S with a few other states because they thought the north had too much power and they also didn't want the right to own slaves taken away from them.

    This is when Abraham became the president. This is important because he give his 1st inaugural Address which he gave his thought on secession in that it was unconstitutional and wrong

    This was the 1st battle of the Civil war. Confederates started to seize forts. Robert Anderson surrendered the fort to the confederates and lost this battle. (the union lost)

    This battle was a turning point in the civil war because the Union started pushing back against the confederates. This is the last time that the south will try to invade the north because the battles will now be only fought in the south

    The Gettysburg Address was a speech that Lincoln gave stressing unity for all and explained that he wanted to get everyone to become one again
