    The battle was fought in Prince William County, Virginia. It was one of the first major battles of the Civil War. Neither side was very experienced and it was one of the deadliest battles in US history to that point. Confederates defeated the Union suprising many. This is the battle where Stonewall Jackson earned his nickname. He got this because when North was charging south, he and south stood their ground and stood in their place like a stone wall.

    Ulysses S. Grant led the Union, where he leads his troops to vicotry. While Albert Sidney Johnston led the Confederates. It was the Bloodiest battle besides for Gettysburg. The battle was a huge win for the Union because it gave the Union a little control of the Mississippi.

    The battle was located in Prince William County, Virginia, which was the same location as First Battle of Bull Run. It was an area nearDC so Union wanted to conquer this land so they would not have to worry about Confederates overtaking DC.
    The Confederates win and Robert E. Lee leads the Confederates during this battle of Bull Run.

  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Created by Abraham Lincoln
    It allowed run-away slaves from confederate states to become free men in Union territories. Runaway slaves went from being property of slave owners to free men. Many of the slaves that escaped slavery joined the Union army to fight against the Confederates. He did not free the slaves because he had no jurisdiction over southern states at the time.

    Stonewall Jackson died during this battle because his own men accidentally shot him.
    The Confederates win and the battle is known as Robert E. Lee's best conducted battle.

    Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
    It was the largest amount of casualties in any battle during the Civil War and known as the turning point of the war.
    On the 3rd day of the battle, a massive Confederate Cavalry charge was ordered of 12,500 men but the Union defended themselves. Union slowly won the battle after this. It was the last fight on Union soil. Union came out victorious.
