    Lee was the main General or Commander of the Confederate army. He was a good strategist. He carried out plans well. His ultimate downfall would be that he attacked places that there was no chance of taking over.
  • Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham Lincoln made the push to end slavery. He was responded with a nation tearing itself into two. Abraham Lincoln changed history for the United States. He was very influential on the outcome of the Civil War. He kept a straight face in the face of change. He was a great President.
  • Ulysses S. Grant

    Grant was the main General or Commander of the Union. He was very influential as a leader in battle. He helped end the war faster with his plans and how he carried them out.

    This marked the date that South Carolina would secede from the United States. South Carolina's inhabitants would long think that the only way that the United States would be broken was by slavery. And they were right. They left with other 10 states.

    Union General Winfield Scott came up with the plane to surround the Confederate forces by water and land and then squeeze.
  • Confederate Army

    The Confederate army was the army of the Confederacy. This was a good-sized army not to squint at. The Confederate army would lose the war.

    The Union army was the army of the Union or otherwise known as the North. These people fighting were against slavery and what the Southerners wanted for the country.

    This battle marked the beginning of the war. This was a Confederate Victory Union Major Robert Anderson surrendered to P.G.T Beauregard. The Union forces were vastly outnumbered.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    This was the first large scale battle of the Civil War. Ending in a Confederate victory this was a stinging defeat to the Union. This also showed Americans that the war would be long and bloody.
  • 7 Day battle

    7 Day battle
    This was the battle where Confederate President, Jefferson Davis, would put Robert E. Lee in charge of an army. This would pay off. The battle going on in Richmond Virginia. Robert E. Lee would push the Union away and would overtake them.
  • Antietam Battle

    Robert E. Lee sent an attack to Maryland where he committed all of his troops. George B. McClellan sent in 3/4 of his troops. This led to a more drawn out battle. Lee would eventually be forced to retreat.

    The Emancipation Proclamation is a proclamation that Abraham Lincoln made that said that all slaves in rebellious states were henceforth free. This was limited though and depended on the Union winning the war.

    This marked the turning point in the war. Up till now the Confederates had been winning and had been pushing the Union but this marked the point at which the Union collected itself and began to deliver some blows. This was one of the bloodiest battles in the whole war.

    This was an address that President Abraham Lincoln gave in honor of those who gave their lives in the battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg would become a resting place for many Union Soldiers.
  • Appomattox Courthouse

    Robert E. Lee attacks but Ulysses S. Grant counterattacks and drives Robert E. Lee to retreat. Ulysses expected that Lee would retreat so they surrounded him and Robert E. Lee would surrender on this date.

    This amendment made it so that slavery was illegal. This was the final nail. This with the surrender of Lee was the mark of the war ending.
