In Montgomery, Alabama, delegates from South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas adopt the Permanent Constitution of the Confederate States of America. This constitution gave extensive power to states. -
Start of South Carolina Fires on Fort Sumter
The confederacy opened fire on Fort Sumter bright and early on April 12. On April 13th Major Robert Anderson, Garrison surrendered fort sumter and evacuated the next day. -

It was ratified on December 6, 1865
declared that Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States. -
Surrender at Appomattox
Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to Union General Ulysses S. Grant. Battle of Appomattox Court House only a few hours, effectively brought the four-year Civil War to an end. -
Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate sympathizer assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. The attack came only five days after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his massive army at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia, effectively ending the American Civil War. He most likly wouldn't have been killed if Liconls body gaurds stayed watch. -
14th Amendment
The amendment addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War. -
