Election of 1860
The Election of 1860 was when 4 candidates fought for presidency. The winner of it was Abraham Lincoln since the south had less people in the north and the North favored Abraham Lincoln since he was opposed to the idea of slavery spreading slavery. But the south never even knew he was a candidate so he got 0 votes from the south. Either way he would get no votes since the south believed in wanting to expand slavery. -
South Carolina Secedes
After Lincoln was declared as the president. The South was furious and South Carolina threatened the Union. Lincoln wouldn't step back from his actions so they decided to leave alongside other states to be independent. -
Attack on Fort Sumter
The Union was set up in Fort Sumter and started firing at the confederacy militia. This ultimately resulted into a war that sparked a flame to cause the Civil War. -
Battle of Bull Run/Manassas
The UNion planned in invading and conquering the Souths Capitals. And it was a major war since the Confederates won even though they had less troops than The Union. So this is when the Union finally put their war face on and took the situation seriously. -
Battle of Antietam
The battle of Antietam was the first major win for the Union and it convinced Abraham Lincoln to pass the Emancipation Proclamation. -
Battle of Fredericksburg
battle between the Union and the Confederates that took place in the streets and the houses. As it turned out the confederacy won and The Union retreaded and lost the opportunity to gain more Confederate territory. -
Emancipation Proclamation
After the Union won their first major war president Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation. This helped abolish slavery in the long run. -
Battle of Gettysburg
General Lee was trying to retry the ANtietnam plan. Well it turns out that this battle was going to last 3 days and the Union had the highfround giving them a huge advantage in the battle.Unfortuantly this devistated the amount of soldiers the Union had and the Confederates had. This was the downfall of the Confederacy. -

The Battle of Vicksburg was a significant win for the Union it was one of the last wars that concluded the War since the Confederates where devastated -
54th Massachusetts Fight at Fort Wagner
The Union held an attack on Fort Wagner. And what was so significant was that this was the first time African American troops could be on the front lines leading the battle and the American flag. This made people respect Africans and gave them a new insight of how brave they are. -

President Lincolns short speech that he gave motivated thousands. And wished that the people would not lose hope after the war -
13 Amendment Passed
The 13 Amendment was the law that will permanently end slavery. But wasn't passed until after the death of President Abraham Lincoln. -
Sherman’s March to the Sea
Sherman March to the Sea was a plan to do an act called "total war" this meant ruining railroads factories pretty much anything that benefits the enemy during the war. Some people called it too harsh but some thought it was the only way a war that size could be won. -
Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse
Generals Lee and Grant met in a small Virginia town called the Appomattox Courthouse where General Lee officialy surrendered by hand of the south. And they ended in good terms none of them wanted more wars so then they went home like nothing ever happen.
