This was one of the bloodiest battles the civil war, because no side really won. This was a back and forth battle that ended in a draw but the confederates retreated which helped Abraham Lincoln pass the Emancipation Proclamation. -

This battle started on July 1st and ended on July 3rd. The union won this battle after almost losing to Gen. Lee's forces. After the feirce battle Abraha Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg address. -
Sherman's March to Sea
The march started on Nov. 15 and ended on Dec.21. To show to the confederates that they could be invaded Union Gen. William T. Sherman marched through Geogia all the way down to Savannah, and all the time they marched they burned and destroyed public areas. -
