This battle is significant because it was the first battle between ironclad ships, as it was a NAVY battle. Even though the battle lasted until the next day, it was a tie.

    The Battle of Shiloh took place in Shiloh, TN. The Union won this battle. This was significant because it was the bloodiest battle ever. 24,000 were killed in only two days.

    The Seven Days Battle was a battle that lasted seven days, from June 25 to July 1, 1862. This battle took place in Virginia and marked the end of Peninsula Campaign.The Union tried to push straight up through Virginia to capture the capital and bring an end to the war. The Confederacy won this battle. This was significant because it made Lincoln worry becuase of the Confederacy's strength and it's general's strength.

    Jefferson Davis wanted the Confederacy to move into the United States territory. They decided to invade Maryland, in hope of Maryland getting cut off from the Union and join the Confederacy. The Union won this battle. This battle was significant because it was General Lee's first invasion of the North, and lots of lives were lost.

    The Emancipation Proclamation was a speech issued by Lincoln. It said both reed the slaves in the rebel states and guaranteed the enforcement of their emancipation. However, this was only in the Confederate states. This is significant because it was the first step by the government to end slavery, but this didn't end slavery all the way.

    The Second Bull Run was when the Confederacy (Jackson) tried to put the Union (Pope) in battle with them, yet turned out to be a tie at the end. It was significant because it was one of the last battles the Confederacy excelled at, and Pope got sacked and McCellen took his place.

    It was in 1863 when the actual Emancipation Proclamation took place, which was a speech spoke by Abraham Lincoln that told about slaves. This is significant because it freed the slaves in those parts of the south that was still in the war, and they could fight in the war too.

This battle was significant because it was the first battle of all to allow slaughter houses to kill men, animals, etc

    Gettysburg was a battle fought in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The South had invaded the North, and in order for the South not to go to their capitols, the Union had counterattacked at Gettysburg. This is significant because most think of it as the turning point of the war, and because thousands were killed. This battle also lasted three days.

    The battle of Vicksburg was a siege and it went on for a very long time. They also fought over the Mississippi River. The Confederates lost and the Union won. This was significant because the Confederacy lost Vicksburg they lost control of the Mississippi River.

    The Gettysburg Address is a speech by Lincoln to remember those who were killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. It is significant because it boosted the moral of the Union, and made the United States together as one once more.

    The Battle of Chattanooga had three battles. The first one was in June 7, 1962. The second one in August 21, 1963. And the third one in November 23, 1963. However, the third battle which was also known as the Chattanooga campaign, which was more than one battle that was fought in October and November of 1863. The battle of November 23 was significant, because it gave the Union a chance to invade further South

    This battle took place in the Atlanta Campaign, where the Union wanted to seize the important railways and the supply centres in Atlanta too. The Confederates were defeated by the Union.This battle was significant because Atlanta was destroyed, which also destroyed the South's morale.

    Lincoln got re-elected for president on November 1864. This was important and significant because if the other candidates got elected for president instead of Lincoln getting re-elected, perhaps the Civil War could have turned out much different from now. Lincoln made important decisions afterwards and without him could have been different.

    The March to sea, or Sherman's March to the Sea, was when on November 16 of 1864, General Sherman of the Union left Atlanta, which was captured, and ended up capturing the port of Savannah, Georgia. This is also called the Savannah Campaign. This is significant because of the major damage that was caused; to the industry and to the citizen's property.

    Grant and the Union occupied Richmond and soon later captured it. This is significant because they had took all their industry; rails, etc.
  • Lee surrenders

    Robert E. Lee surrenders to Grant in 1865 at Appomattox. Lee's whole army was overwhelmed, weak, and tired and he had no choice but to surrender. This is significant because this is what ended the Civil War once and for all.
  • Lincoln shot

    John Wilkes Booth had shot President Lincoln in April 14, 1865 during a play at a theatre. Lincoln's assassination had a large role in the Civil War and afterward. Many believe his assassination had evened out the North and the South, and the country began to grow later on.
