The Confederacy demanded that the Union surrender at Fort Sumter. President Lincoln did not surrender, but he did send food for the people there -
Anaconda Plan
The plan was to create a naval blockade around the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico which was controlled by the Confederates. The Union would then send 60,000 troops to capture forts. They would then try to cut the Confederacy in half. -
