Texas became the seventh state to secede from the union. Texas voted to seced from the arguments of texas' govenor Sam Houston. -
Houston kicked out of office
In 1861 Texas was deciding if they wanted to secede to the union, Texas' governor Sam Houston did not like this idea because he wasent a big part of this issue. Then he knew that they were going to fire him so Houston resigned. he later died in his home in Huntsville, Texas in July 1863. -
Battle at Fort Sumter
This was the very first battle that stared the American civil war. thisbattle was held near Charleston, South Carolina. On April 14 1861 major Robert Anderson and his troops surrendered the Fort Leaving the South to wint he battle and keep Fort sumter. -

the confedarate demanded that they surrender Galveston island. on new years day the confederate army entered the west end of galveston harbor targeting the Union and planning to attack to make them give up the island. The confederate army was sucsessful. -

The battle of Sabine pass was on the Sabine river that flows into the gulf of Mexico. ther were Two battles of Sabine pass and this is the first one. the Union had an intrest in parrts of Texas and other parts of states near the Mississippi river. The Union killed and wounded many confederate soldiers with their ship. But one of their boats was forced to retire and the others were captured or they sunk. -

The Red River campign lasted 43 days starting March 10 and ending on May 22, 1864. the red river was a border to Texas and oklahoma an d ran thruogh Louisiana and a couple of other states. The red river Campign is an expidition comprised series of battles fought along the Red River. -

The Battle of Palmito Ranch occured only a month after the confederate army had surrendered and the union had won the Civil War. It took place at a ranch near Brownsville. The battle was with the confederate army and Texas. Texas forced confederate army to give up the bttle. -
