    A problem that had been between some states and the president at the time which was Andrew Jackson. The states didn't want to pay the protective tariff that Jackson had wanted them to, with this the states said they had the rights to nullify or decline the tarriff.

    Frederick Douglass established an abolitionist paper that was named The North Star. It became such a powerful paper that had been influential on the black antislavery group known as the abolitionists.

They had attempted to establish a new nation that would resolve to limited power and that the institution of slavery would be protected.
