  • Battle of Shiloh

    Battle of Shiloh
    Also known as Pittsburg Landing, it was fought in Shiloh, Tennessee between Major General Ulysses S Grant of the Union and General Albert Sidney Johnston of the Confederacy, and who was also later killed in the very battle. After a bloody two day battle, the North eventually emerged victorious.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Battle of Antietam
    Also know as Battle of Sharpsburg, it was fought in Sharpsburg, Maryland between George B McClellan of the Union and Robert E Lee of the Confederacy. Although actually undecided, as Lee had retreated while McClellan made no attempt to hunt Lee, many agree the North won as they managed to drive the Confederates out.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    Battle of Vicksburg
    Also known as the Siege of Vicksburg, this battle is a part of the Vicksburg Campaign, it was fought near Vicksburg, Mississippi to control the fort. The primary fighters were the Union's Ulysses S Grant and the Confederacy's John C Pemberton. To win, Grant had limited the amount of goods that entered the town and fort. After weeks of being under the control of Grant, Pemberton surrendered due to the fact that he no longer had any resources on July 4, 1863.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    Fought in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, it was a battle between the Union's Major General George G Meade and the Confederacy's General Robert E Lee. The North eventually won as Lee retreated back to Virginia. In commemoration of the rather bloody two day battle, Lincoln delivered a speech in person.
  • Sherman's March to the Sea

    Sherman's March to the Sea
    More known as the Savannah Campaign, William T Sherman of the North marched his troops from Atlanta on November 15, 1864, to Georgia, and ending with the capture of the Savannah Port on December 21, 1864. Throughout Sherman's march, his troops destroyed towns and villages in order to hasten the war's end.
