The South Seceded from the Union
They suceeded because they wanted to keep their slaves. They all didn't seced at the same time they did it slowly. -

This happened April 12-14, in Charleston Country, South Carolina. The Confederation attacked and started the civil war. The Confederation won the battle. -

This happened in Sharpburg, Maryland bloodiest day in American history 20,000 dead. This was the fight between the Union and Confedercy. After the battle he announced the Emancipation Proclamation. -

President Abraham Lincon issued this and it said "that all persons held as slaves within the rebellious states are, and henceforward shall be free." This would only work if the Union Army won. -

This abolished slavery in the United States. People where now not allowed to force others t owork for them but people still scarred them to work for them. -

This Bill didn't become law because Abraham Licoln didn't want just one way to solve Americas problems. He wanted multiple ways to solve them. -

This was to protect blacks rights once they where freed. -
Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse
General Robert Lee knew is men where outnumbered and they wouldn't be able to win this battle so they declared defeat. He did this because he didn't want the women and children to be in harms way. -
Abraham Licoln is Assassinted
This happened five days after the Confedercy surrendered. He was the first President to be assasnated. -
Ku Klux Klan
Day unknown. This was a group of people who thought whites where superior. They were anti-imigration, and are still together to this day. -
First Reconstruction Act
This made new state constitutions written. All states readmitted into the Union and accepted the 14th and later the 15th Amendment. -
The Second Reconstruction Act
This made it easier for Southerners know their place in the goverment. They also made everyone recite the constitution before they voted. -
Andrew Johnson is Impeached
He was the 17th president and it was the first time a sitting president was Impeached. He wasn't in support of freed slaves he wasn't inforcing the Econstruction Act. -
The 14th Amendment Passed
This declares everyone born in the United States are legal citizens. Also if one of your parents is a citizen and your born outside of America. -
Ulysses S Grant
He was a great President who destroyed the Klu Klix Klan. He was a war hero. -
The Compromise of 1877 Passed
The Republicans got help from the Democrats by them help rebuild railroads, get rid of their armies, and help them back onto their feet. As long as the Democrates accepted blacks rights and Hayes.
