Election of Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was elected to his first term in 1860. This caused Southern states to leave the Union -
Seccesion of South Carolina
On December 20, 1860 South Carolina was the first state to declare it's seccesion from the Union. During a debate about seccesion, South Carolina's vote to secce was 169 to 0. -
Formation of Confederate States
South Carolina,Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas formed the Confederate States.
On Feb. 4, 1861, reps. from these states met and organized a temporary government. -
Firing on Fort Sumter
Battle of Fort Sumter lated for two days and was one of the bloodest battles in the war. The battle ended in a Confederate win. -
First Battle of Bull Run
The First Battle of Bull Run was also known as Manassas ,which it was known by Confederate forces. This was the first major conflict of the American Civil war. -
Battle of Antietam
During this battle 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing. Confederate losses were less than Union. -

Gettysburg lasted from July 1-3, 1863. It was the bloodest battle. Vicksburg lasted from May 18 – July 4, 1863. This battle blocked the Mississippi River. -

Lincoln won 55 perecnt of vote. After being releected, he encouraged many Southerners to jointhe Union. -

General Robert E. Lee's Army surrendered to the Union Army . This surreender lead to the end of the Civil War.
