This is important because this blockade made it impossible to get goods, supplies, and arms to the Confederacy. But the Brithish, witch was the souths trading partner, tried to get through still.

1st Battle of Bull Run

This fight was thought to bring an early ending to the war. The Union took the Confederates by suprise, but later more Confederates came and lauched a stroung counter attack. The Union started to fall back and the Confederates won.
