South Carliona succeeded, and so did six other states. Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Lousinia, and Texas were the other six states that succeeded. Then after this four more threatned to succeed.

Lincolns Election

When Lincoln was elected he said that he didnt have any plans to end slavery. He also said that he didnt want to have secession. He also didnt want to use warfare to end the national crisis.

emancipation proclamation

This was made to try to end slavery even in the Southern states. Lincoln tried to make it were all slaves that were employed by the union states were to be let free. All slaves that were considered part of the rebellion were free.

Defeating union

General lee chose to declare war on his enemy. On june 13 a battle was faught at Winchester Virgina. The union forces were defeated.

abraham reelection

Nov 13, 1864

Shermans victory is one of the main reasons Abraham won his re election. When Sherman won his batle it gained Abraham much popularity in the tolls. He was the republucan preesident and Andrew Jhonson was voted Vice president.

cofedercy falls

Trandpotation started to cause problems with food transporation and low stock on suppiles. Because supplies and fod supply was so low starving shoilders began to leave General lees forces.

General lee defeat

Mar 25, 1865

General lee attacked general Grants in petersburg. He was not sucessful in this beattle. He was defeated. He tried to re attack grants forces but lost once again and began the journey back home.

Surrender

Apr 7, 1865

General Lee and his troops were soon surronded on april 7th 1865. Grant tried to talk General lee into surrender. He refused.

On april 9th General lee and general grant both decided to surrournder. They did this infront of Appomatax courthouse. Everyone was sent home on porole.

Abraham was enjoying a performance at his local theater on April 14, 1865. When jhon wilkes booth came up behind him and shot him in the back of the head. Booth tried to escape to virgina but was found and cornered in a barn.

KKK

These were men that were angered towards black males and women having rights. They dressed up in white clothes and tourcered the african americans. They are known as the Klu Kluck Klan. or KKK.

This is an act that tried to restrict the presidents power. It was enabled on March 3,1867. This was made to remove the office holders picked by the president.

the force acts were made after the american civil war. The purpose was to portect the voting rights for african americans. The civil rights act is also refered to when talking.

The Great Chicgago fire was a very destructive fire that killed hundreds of people, also destroying 3.3 square miles in illinois.The fire lasted for two days.
