    He was a 14 year old African American that was murdered for being accused of offending a white women. When he was murdered his body was dumped into a river. When they found his body it was hard to identify who it was because his body was so beaten and bruised.

    Creation of the Montgomery improvement association
    An organization formed by black ministers and community leaders under the leadership of Ralph Abernathy, Martin Luther King Jr, and Edgar Nixon.
  • Montgomery bus boycott

    Montgomery bus boycott
    It started when Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man. It was a 13 month mass protest that ended with the U.S surpreme court ruling that segregation on public buses is unconstitutiuonal
  • Civil Rights Act of 1957

    This was the first civil rights legislation since Reconstitution. It established a federal Civil Rights commision with authority to investigate discriminatory conditions.
