he was a 14 year old african american boy from chicago, visiting family in mississippi. he was accused of whistling at a married white woman. roy bryant and jw milan kidnapped, beat, shot, and killed emmet then threw his body in the river. Maime Till had an open casket at his funeral to show what they did to emmet. booth men who did this to him stood trial, and found not guilty -
