This event is when a lady and her daughter move to a new place the nearest colored school was almost 20 blocks away but the nearest white school was about 3 blocks away. So she fought saying that her daughter should be allowed to go to that school, and she won.

Montgomery Bus Boy Cot

Starts December 1st 1955 and ends December 20th 1956. Was started because of the arrest of Rosa parks because she refused to give up her seat. The boycot was that everyone was to stay off the buses until they have them full rights on the bus.

MLK releases his first book

MLK released his first book about the way they were treated and what they acomplished in Montgomery. The book was called "Stride Towards Freedom:The Montgomery Story."

Was taken to court, the court agreed that segergation laws on the buses in Montgomery and Alabama unconstitutional.

MLK meets with the president

MLK meets with John F. Kennedy to talk about him to issue another Emancipation Proclamation to eliminate segergation.

MLK won a Nobel Peace Prize

Mlk was the youngest person to recieve the pize at the age of 35. He received over $50,000,and he donated it to help the Civil Rights movement.

Jimmie Lee Jackson was shot and killed

Feb 26, 1965

Jimmie Lee Jackson was shot and killed by law enforcment,standing up for protecting his mother.

Bloody Sunday

Mar 7, 1965

Planned to march over 50 miles for a protest all the way to the white house. But they were stopped at Edmund Pettis bridge. Law enforcement brutually beat the nonn-violent protesters.
