  • African Americans can now vote

  • President Truman passed 2 orders about segragation

    July 26, 1948, President Truman passed 2 orders: one created equal and fair employment in government; other got rid of segregation in the military.
  • Student walked into white school and rebelled

    In 1951 a student walkout at a Virginia high school led by Barbara Johns, age 16 to rebell against segregation of schools. (Ignore the January and 13th- I was required to put a month and day.)
  • Segragation of Schools Ended by Marshall

    Marshall tried to end the segregation of schools it took almost 3 years and on May 17, 1954, they won the case and ended the segregation of schools.
  • Rosa Parks was arrested

    December 1, 1955: Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving her seat to a white man on the bus. That led to Bus Boycotts and Sit-Ins
  • 9 African Americans were allowed to an all-white school

  • Athena Gibson won the women's singles and doubles championship

  • Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested

    Martin Luther King, Jr was arrested in April 1963. (I don't know the exact date, so ignore the "1" on the date)
  • Marching Protest through Washington

    August 28, 1963, blacks and whites marched through Washington and asked for equal acess to public facilities, good education and employment, and decent housing.
  • Nobel Peace Prize recieved by Martin Luther King Jr.
