Nine black students tried to enter a a previously all white highschool and were not allowed in, even though the law had been changed. The national guard had to help to allow the students to attend. They became known as the "Little Rock Nine". -

Unarmed teenager michael brown was shot and killed by a white officer in Ferguson Missouri, riots started all over the state and in some other areas. I thought I should add that when this (and a few other things) happened I didn't really think of them as making history. It makes sense, but I wonder why I didn't put it together.
