    Brown vs. Board of education was one of the most important events in the Civil Rights movement because it made it so that white and black students would not have to be separated into different schools based on their race. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that it was unconstitutional and against that 14th amendment causing the end for segregated schools.
  • The Montgomery Bus Boycott

    The Montgomery Bus Boycott
    The Montgomery Bus Boycott was essential to the Civil Rights movement because it showed how the African American population demanded change and would stand up for what they knew was right. In this time for over a year African Americans boycotted and refused to use busses until the Supreme Court ruled that segregation on the buses was unconstitutional. The non-violet protest had worked and helped America start to change.
  • The Birmingham Campaign

    The Birmingham Campaign
    The Birmingham Campaign was a huge point in the Civil Rights movement. The Birmingham Campaign started off as a non-violent campaign to help stop the discrimination and make better integration in America. Soon however police were violently attacking, harming, and arresting the young black students and no-violent protesters. The encounter was very publicly shown and it led to more governmental laws being created to help the African Americans.
  • The Selma March

    The Selma March
    The March to Selma was very important to the efforts of the Civil rights movement. This was an event that had a total of three marches from Selma to Montgomery. This march was a direct protest to the fact that black Americans were being stopped from being allowed to vote due to the Jim Crow Laws that were in effect at the time. As a result of these marches the "Voting rights Act of 1965" was placed giving the African American's the freedom to vote.

    Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination
    Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination was pivotal to the Civil Rights movement. Dr.King was the leader and creator of the Civil Rights movement and him being murdered changed things. His death made the black society of America more energized and desperate to end racism in America, it empowered the Black Power Movement. The groups and organizations associated with the Civil rights movement grew and they became closer to bringing equality between races in America.
