    The decision was handed down by a vote of 7 to 1 with the "Seperate But Equal "
    majority opinion written by Justice Henry Billings Brown and the dissent written by Justice John Marshall Harlan. "Separate but equal" remained standard doctrine in U.S. law until its repudiation in the 1954 Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education.

    8 year old linda brown in topeak Kanas lives in walking distance of the whites only school. But because of segregation Linda must travel the bus to a more distant african american school. Lindas father sues the boar of topeka And the U.S. Supreme Courta agrees to hear the case. On may 17th the Brown VS. Supremem Court Rulls that "Seprste but equal are inherently equal" The decsion declaies legal school segration unconstituntional.

    On the way out of the candy store the 14 year old black boy said something to the white store owner . He Whistled at her. That night they went down and got the boy, dragged him out his house, and killed him.
    At the tellohachi court house his trial took place in september 1955, and the murders were identified as and Rory Brient, And half brother J.W. Mylum Addmited to kidnapping, beating, and killing the boy. The All White Jury found them NOT Guilty.

    A Few months after emmit till trial At mongunary bapsist church in Alabama blacks met to protest their continued abuse. A Few days before Rosa Parks was arrested because she would not give up her seat in the front of the bus for a white man,. Decemeber 5th 1955, Matrin Luther king was chosen to run the bus boycot. The walked and organized their own car pulls, and taxis. City busses ran empty after 381 Days on december 20th 1956, Fevereal court ordered banning of bus segration.

    3 years after outlawing school segration, an angry mob stood between the black children at the all white little rock highschool. The 9 Black children were cussed at, harrased, and hurt by the white mob.Only with the help of a white woman did one of the children make it to the bus to safty. The 9 Students had an influence far beyond little rock, they inspired a lot of young people.

    college students began to make sits in at a segrated lunch counters that refused to serve african americans. Blacks would get beaten bu whites but they would not fight back, when the police came, the black would be the ones to get arested even though they did not do anything wrong. Blacks were commited to the psycolagy and dedacation of nonviolence.

    Two groups left city by bus to call the attention of the country to the violance of anti-discrimination laws in interstate travel. they entered the deep south.the bus was suroundedand they punctured some of the tires, they followed the bus . Then they bus was set on fire. If Howard truman wouldn't have been there everyone would have burnt to death. The riders on the second bus were beaten and some were shot in Burmingham. A few days later they were put in Mississippi jail .

    On September 10th Supreme Court ruled that the University of Mississippi must admit African-American and veteran James Meredith. on September 26 the governor of Mississippi Ross Barnett orders state trip to prevent James from entering .September 30 and October 1 right erupt over James enrollment at University of Mississippi on October 1 James Meredith becomes the first African-American student ole miss, After Pres. Kennedy orders US marshals to Mississippi to ensure his safety.

    3 Workers were held by the nashova county depuity shariff and charged with speeding, Two white men and one black man. The white mens names were Micheal Shawner (social worker from NY) And Andrew Goodman. The Black mans name was James Chaniey. Who was a native In Mississippi and the black son of slave. Around 10 P.M They were all told to retuen .The shariff and others were harged with civil rights violations but the state of Mississippi refused to press charges.

    100'S of students travled back roads they had come to help blacks regester to vote. Every segment of that process was dangerous for the black people. But 1000's came to vote.

    Walking 54 Miles from statehouse to mongumary demanding to protest their grivences to the govener himself were the sadded back folks from Jimmie Lee's Case. On the oppsite side of the bridge from the walkers were state troopers which told the walkers to stop and go any further, and when they did not listen they got beated.

    In solma Alambama, The mariean police arested 700 black children for marching and jailed a leader. On the evening of feb 18th, a prayer meeting was held. Outside locs stste police had gathered 100's . Jimmie lee jackson had tried to prevent his mother and grandmother from getting beaten. Jimme ran up between the church and the post office.He was 26, and the youngest Deaken of his church. He would be burried the the following satuday. Angered and saddened they planned their most ambisent protest
