-Four Students sat down at a designated eating area for whites and began a non violent protest
-This is important because it started the non-violent sit ins throughout the south which showed that colored people were united and strong. -
James Meridith
-Mississippi
-The first black student to try to enroll in the University of Mississippi
-This is important because President Kennedy sent troops to help him enroll showing that the president was involved in putting an end to segregation. -
March on Washington
-Washington D.C
-Non-Violent protest against segregation led by Civil Rights Leaders including Martin Luther King
-This is important because it was on of the most publicly televised events during the civil rights movement, because of this it caused more attention and changed many peoeple minds. -

-This is important because colored people no longer had to get approved or pay to vote. -
